The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Nentawe Yilwatda, has revealed that a large share of the party’s membership is made up of young people.

Yilwatda disclosed that youths aged between 18 and 35 account for 49.8 per cent of registered members of the ruling party.

He made the disclosure during an appearance on TVC Sunday Politics, where he spoke on the party’s growing youth base. According to him, the development reflects a shift in political alignment among young Nigerians.

He said: “About 49.8% of our members, as of yesterday, are between the ages of 18 and 35.

“Our party is youthful, unlike before when we were deceived into thinking that most of the youths were with certain individuals.

“Now, we have proven to the world that most of the youths are with the APC.”

The APC chairman also spoke on the party’s membership expansion plans. He noted that the party is working towards reaching 20 million members nationwide.

Yilwatda added that the ongoing electronic registration exercise has already pushed membership figures close to 12 million as the drive continues.
