Benfica manager Jose Mourinho was overcome with emotion ahead of his team’s match against Vitoria Guimaraes on Saturday night.
Mourinho was visibly moved during a minute’s silence held in memory of Silvino Louro, a longtime member of his coaching staff.
Louro, a former Portuguese goalkeeper, passed away at 67 after a prolonged illness. He worked alongside Mourinho at Porto and later followed him through his coaching stints at Chelsea, Inter, Real Madrid, and Manchester United.
Ahead of the game, Mourinho could be seen with reddened eyes as he looked up at a large screen displaying a photo of Louro. Turning back toward the dugout, he wiped away his tears just before kick-off.
