Kemi Badenoch, a British-Nigerian politician, has emerged as the most popular UK party leader, according to a survey conducted by pollsters More in Common.

Britbrief reports that she ranks ahead of all four major UK party leaders, with an approval rating of minus 9.

Badenoch, the Leader of the Opposition and leader of the Conservative Party, is followed by Liberal Democrat leader Sir Ed Davey, who has a net approval rating of minus 11, and Reform UK’s Nigel Farage, who stands at minus 16.

Surprisingly, the UK’s Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer, has the lowest approval rating among the four, at minus 42.

Political analysts have attributed her recent popularity to her high-profile interventions, including a direct challenge to the Prime Minister regarding Angela Rayner’s tax affairs and the handling of the Peter Mandelson scandal.

The UK director of More in Common, Luke Tryl, said that Badenoch’s recognition has improved significantly in recent months.

“Whereas last summer we would conduct entire focus groups where no participant could identify Kemi Badenoch, she is now frequently mentioned spontaneously in discussions,” he told the Sunday Times.

Despite the improvement in her personal ratings, the poll noted that the Conservative Party has yet to see a corresponding rise in overall support.
