Katsina Governor Holds Emergency Security Meeting After Deadly Bandit Attacks

Katsina State is currently under heightened tension following deadly attacks in Matazu Local Government Area. Governor Dikko Umaru Radda has convened an emergency Security Council meeting at the Government House to address escalating security concerns.

 

The ongoing meeting has gathered top security officials, highlighting the urgency of the situation. Present at the session are senior officers of the Nigerian Army, officials from Defence Headquarters, and operatives from the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Police Force.

 

Representatives from the Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigeria Customs Service, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Federal Fire Service, and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) are also participating.

Additionally, chairmen of affected local government areas, the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and other senior government officials are attending.

 

The meeting is reportedly reviewing the current security situation and exploring ways to improve coordination among security agencies to tackle threats across the state.

 

Reports indicate that bandits killed a police officer and injured two civilians during coordinated attacks on two communities in Matazu. “Those injured were said to have been taken to a nearby hospital for treatment,” according to sources.

 

Governor Radda’s swift response underscores the state government’s commitment to addressing insecurity and protecting lives in Katsina.
