The Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Muhammad Usman Zuru, has been confirmed dead.
He reportedly passed away in a hospital in Egypt, where he was receiving treatment for an ailment he had been battling for some time.
He represented the Zuru Constituency under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
A press statement issued on Monday by Murtala Adamu Diri, an official of the Kebbi State Government, confirmed the incident.
“His death is a significant loss to his constituents, the state’s legislative body, the political community, as well as the state and the country in general,” Diri stated.
“Further details regarding his burial arrangements and official condolences are expected to be announced by the Kebbi State Government and his family in due course,” he added.
