The Nigerian Army has confirmed that its troops neutralised ten terrorists during coordinated offensives in Plateau State. The operations, conducted under Operation Wutan Daji on Thursday, targeted terrorist strongholds in Wase and Kanam Local Government Areas.

According to an operational report released to the News Agency of Nigeria, the offensives focused on identified corridors around Daba and Seri villages. Troops established blocking positions between Dutsen Zaki and Odare Forest, where they encountered terrorists moving on motorcycles. A firefight ensued, resulting in the elimination of several insurgents, while others fled with suspected injuries.

The army stated that subsequent exploitation of the area led to the recovery of the bodies of ten neutralised terrorists along with combat equipment. Items seized included two motorcycles, jerrycans containing Premium Motor Spirit, an AK-47 rifle, and a magazine loaded with 7.62mm special ammunition.

These recoveries highlight the group’s reliance on mobility and fuel supplies to sustain operations.

The military emphasised that the offensive posture remains active, with troops maintaining high morale and readiness to continue pressure on terrorist elements. The statement reaffirmed the army’s commitment to restoring peace and stability in affected communities across Plateau State.

The Plateau region has faced persistent security challenges, with armed groups exploiting rural corridors to launch attacks. The latest operation demonstrates the army’s strategy of combining blocking positions with direct engagement to disrupt terrorist movements and logistics. By targeting motorcycle convoys and fuel supplies, the military aims to weaken the operational capacity of insurgent groups.

The Nigerian Army underscored that operations are ongoing and will continue until terrorist networks in the area are dismantled. The success of Thursday’s offensive adds to recent efforts aimed at curbing violence and ensuring the safety of residents in Plateau and surrounding states.

This development reflects the broader national security strategy of sustained offensives against armed groups. With continued military pressure, authorities hope to reduce the frequency of attacks and restore confidence among communities affected by insecurity.
