The Anambra State Government has entered into a partnership with fintech firm Flutterwave as part of efforts to strengthen its digital economy and expand opportunities for businesses across the state.

Governor Chukwuma Soludo made this known in a statement issued on April 22, 2026. He said the collaboration is aimed at supporting the growth of e-commerce, improving digital payment systems, and widening market access for traders and small-scale enterprises.

He explained that the initiative will help connect businesses in key commercial centres such as Onitsha, Nnewi, and Awka to both local and international markets. The governor noted that the move will also promote smoother transactions and encourage wider participation in the digital economy among micro, small, and medium enterprises.

Soludo praised Flutterwave, which is led by its co-founder and Chief Executive Officer, Gbenga ‘GB’ Agboola. He described the company as a major player in Africa’s financial technology sector with a strong global presence.

“Flutterwave has demonstrated how homegrown technology can solve real African challenges at scale. This collaboration is about empowering our people to transact, grow, and compete beyond borders,” the governor was quoted as saying.

He added that the partnership will focus on improving payment systems for small businesses, linking logistics with digital payment platforms, and bringing more traders into online marketplaces to enhance efficiency and reach.

The governor also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for innovation and entrepreneurship. He stated that “government is laying the foundation so our youths can build and scale their ideas without barriers.”

In addition, Soludo called on Anambra indigenes in the diaspora to take advantage of the growing digital economy in the state and invest in its technology-driven sectors.

Flutterwave has gained international recognition for its role in advancing fintech in Africa, particularly through solutions that support cross-border payments and help businesses compete globally.

With this partnership, the Anambra State Government said it is working towards establishing itself as a major hub for digital commerce in Nigeria, using innovation to link local businesses with global markets “one transaction at a time.”
