A faction of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has emerged and rejected the national convention in Abuja that produced a National Working Committee (NWC) led by Hakeem Baba-Ahmed as national chairman.
The faction led by Comrade Abdulmajid Yakubu Dauda identified as PRP-Vanguard Collective and made its stance known on Monday while addressing journalists in Kano.
It also criticised the Baba-Ahmed NWC of courting some politicians from other opposition parties noting the party is not for sale.
“The PRP is not for sale to the highest bidder. It is a party of the working class, progressive intellectuals and the toiling masses, not a refuge for failed politicians seeking relevance,” he said.
He also accused a group he termed “Kaduna Maria” of hijack of the party structures and said his faction is on the rescue.
“The struggle to rescue the PRP from elite capture is part of the broader fight to liberate Nigeria from exploitation,” Daudu said.
