The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has settled an internal leadership dispute in its Kano State chapter, with the party’s national leadership stepping in to restore calm after tensions followed the entry of former Kano State Governor and leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement.
A special meeting convened by the party’s national leadership, led by Sen. Seriake Henry Dickson, brought together key figures. Among those present were Engr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and Engr. Muhammad Sabo Bakin Zuwo, the party’s Northwest Vice Chairman, alongside other senior members.
After deliberations, the party resolved that Hon. Husaini Isah Mai Riga would remain the Chairman of the NDC in Kano State.
Details of the decision were contained in a statement issued by Adam Said Adam, Director General of Social Media for the NDC Kano State chapter. The statement noted that the resolution reflected the political experience and leadership qualities of the Kwankwasiyya figure, who played a major role in settling the dispute and maintaining party unity.
Reacting to the outcome, Mai Riga thanked the national leadership and other stakeholders for their support during the crisis. He specifically acknowledged Sen. Seriake Henry Dickson, Engr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Engr. Muhammad Sabo Bakin Zuwo, and the people of Kano State.
He also apologised to anyone he may have offended in the course of recent events and asked for forgiveness. He described the resolution as a sign of the wisdom and maturity within the party’s leadership.
Mai Riga further offered prayers for divine guidance for the NDC at all levels. He expressed hope for electoral success in future contests and prayed for peace and progress in Nigeria.
