Arsenal have booked a place in the UEFA Champions League final after edging Atletico Madrid 1-0 in their semi-final second leg on Tuesday night.
The result followed a 1-1 draw in the first leg at the Wanda Metropolitano, which handed the Premier League side a narrow aggregate advantage.
The return fixture at the Emirates Stadium produced a closely contested encounter. Arsenal controlled much of the first half and created the better chances.
Bukayo Saka scored the only goal of the match. He reacted quickly after a shot from Leandro Trossard and found the net to give his side the lead before the interval.
Atletico Madrid responded after the break and pushed for an equaliser. Their efforts did not yield a goal, as Arsenal held firm at the back to protect their advantage.
The victory sends Mikel Arteta’s side into the final, where they will meet either Paris Saint-Germain or Bayern Munich.
The final is scheduled to take place on May 30 at the Puskás Aréna in Budapest, Hungary.
