Troops of Sector 2 Joint Task Force under Operation FANSAN YAMMA have killed three suspected terrorists and recovered 175 rustled animals during operations across parts of Katsina State.
The military operations took place on May 9, 2026, in Matazu, Musawa, Kankia, Dutsin-Ma and Malumfashi local government areas.
In a statement, the Media Information Officer of Joint Task Force (North West), Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, said troops of the 171 Battalion stationed at the Forward Operating Base FUDMA carried out a successful ambush along the Matazu–Dutsin-Ma road after receiving credible intelligence.
The operation led to the killing of three terrorists. Troops also recovered two AK-47 rifles with loaded magazines, a motorcycle, three cutlasses and several charms from the suspects.
The statement added that troops, with support from the Katsina State Community Watch Corps, also raided terrorist hideouts in Torcachi, Giginya and Tashar Ganji villages located in Matazu, Musawa and Kankia LGAs.
According to the military, the terrorists fled their camps during the operation, while security operatives recovered 175 rustled livestock. The animals are currently in military custody and will later be handed over to the appropriate authorities in Matazu LGA.
In a separate operation, troops from FOB Malumfashi worked with officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to conduct a raid at Kauyan Dawo in Malumfashi Local Government Area.
Security operatives arrested six suspected drug dealers identified as Sani Rabiu, 25; Umar Nasiru, 22; Abulkubus Aminu, 35; Abdullahi Halilu, 27; Abubakar Rabiu, 22; and Abubakar Dahiru, 33.
Items recovered during the raid included 82.5 grams of suspected Cannabis Sativa, 15.7 grams of Exol-5 and 1.8 grams of D5.
The suspects and seized substances have been handed over to the NDLEA Malumfashi Area Command for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The military also appealed to residents to continue assisting security agencies with useful and timely information.
