The Presidency has dismissed rumours circulating about President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s health, following reports suggesting he was preparing to travel abroad for urgent medical treatment.

The International Centre for Investigative Reporting (ICIR) had quoted unnamed sources claiming that the president had been bedridden for several days, leading to his absence from key state functions. According to the report, Vice President Kashim Shettima had been representing the Presidency at some official engagements during this period.

However, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, refuted the claims, describing them as unfounded.

“People just tell you all kinds of rumours that have no basis at all,” Onanuga told The ICIR.

He maintained that President Tinubu has been carrying out his duties. “He was in his office yesterday (August 5). I was with him. I went to see him. He came to work,” Onanuga said.
