The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested former Sokoto State governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, over an alleged ₦189 billion fraud.

Sources within the anti-graft agency confirmed that Tambuwal was taken into custody on Monday for questioning in connection with suspected misappropriation of state funds during his tenure.

As of press time, the EFCC had yet to release an official statement, but investigations are said to be ongoing.

Tambuwal, who served as Sokoto governor from 2015 to 2023, is also a former Speaker of the House of Representatives.
