The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has dismissed allegations by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) that its investigations into opposition figures are politically motivated.
In a statement on Tuesday, EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede said the commission remains impartial, investigating both ruling party and opposition politicians accused of corruption. He described the ADC’s claims as “self-serving” and “diversionary,” insisting that corruption cases have no time limit and must be investigated regardless of political affiliation.
Olukoyede stressed that “fraud is fraud” and that there are no sacred cows, noting that several serving and former governors, ministers, and politicians across party lines are currently under investigation.
The EFCC urged political parties to focus on their activities and allow the agency to carry out its mandate without distractions.
