Troops of the Nigerian military under Operation Hadin Kai have killed more than 30 terrorists in an airstrike while they attempted to infiltrate the country from the Cameroon border.

Military sources disclosed that the terrorists had gathered near Kumshe, a border community in Borno State, in the early hours of Saturday, plotting to attack ground troops stationed in the area and force their way into Nigeria.

Acting on intelligence, the troops launched an air bombardment that decimated the fighters before they could advance.

The operation was part of ongoing counter-insurgency efforts aimed at preventing cross-border infiltration by Boko Haram and ISWAP elements.

Security analysts say the successful airstrike underscores the importance of sustained surveillance along Nigeria’s porous borders, particularly in the North-East where terrorists have used neighbouring countries as staging grounds for attacks.
