Suspected gunmen in the early hours of Tuesday attacked Filin Canada Quarters in the Sabuwar Unguwa area of Katsina metropolis, abducting three members of a family and killing a local vigilante.

The incident, which occurred around 3:00 a.m., saw the attackers storm the residence of 33-year-old Anas Ahmadu whisking him away alongside his seven-month pregnant wife, Halimat, and their young daughter, Jidda Anas.

According to a report by Katsina Post Halimat is the daughter of a prominent businessman in the state.

During the invasion, members of a local vigilante group attempted to resist the attackers but one of them was shot dead in the process. Residents said the assailants operated for several minutes before escaping with their victims to an unknown location.

Security operatives have since been deployed to the area, while efforts to track down the kidnappers and rescue the victims are ongoing.
