The federal government is making efforts to avert a looming nationwide strike that could cripple academic activities in public universities across the country, Daily Trust has learnt.
According to sources, officials from the Ministries of Labour and Employment as well as Education are scheduled to meet with the leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) in the coming days.
The meeting is expected to address unresolved issues between the government and the union, as concerns mount over the possible disruption of the new academic session.
ASUU has repeatedly raised concerns over funding for universities, staff welfare, and the implementation of previous agreements with the government.
More details are expected after the planned meeting.
