Police Intercept Arms Cache in Katsina, Arrest Two Suspects

The Katsina State Police Command has intercepted a major arms smuggling operation, seizing a cache of deadly weapons and arresting two suspects.

According to the Ministry of Internal Security, officers on patrol along the Ingawa–Karkarku route stopped a Volkswagen Golf at about 4:35 a.m. and discovered weapons hidden inside.

The suspects, Abdulsalam Muhammad (25) and Aminu Mamman (23) of Baure village, Safana LGA, were found with:

* 1 General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG),

* 1,063 rounds of 7.62 x 39mm AK-47 ammunition,

Investigations revealed the consignment originated from Hadejia, Jigawa State, and was bound for Safana.

The state government praised the police for their “exceptional vigilance” and reaffirmed support for security agencies in dismantling criminal networks.
