Governors from the North East yesterday tabled a list of security and infrastructure demands before President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who assured them of his administration’s commitment to addressing the region’s peculiar challenges.
The governors, led by Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum, met with the president at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. At the meeting, they highlighted pressing concerns ranging from persistent insecurity to poor infrastructure and the difficulties posed by the region’s terrain.
President Tinubu, while responding, pledged that concrete steps would be taken to tackle the issues raised, stressing that his government would not neglect the region in its development plans.
The North East, long plagued by insurgency and underdevelopment, remains one of Nigeria’s most vulnerable regions, with stakeholders repeatedly calling for targeted federal interventions.
