President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed a Federal Executive Council (FEC) committee to roll out immediate interventions aimed at reducing food prices across the country.
The Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security, Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, disclosed this on Wednesday while addressing journalists at a capacity-building workshop for Senate correspondents in Abuja.
According to him, the directive is part of the administration’s broader efforts to tackle food inflation, which has continued to put pressure on millions of households nationwide.
“Mr. President has given clear instructions to the FEC committee to take urgent and practical steps that will ease the burden on Nigerians by bringing down food prices,” Abdullahi said.
He added that the government is working with key stakeholders in the agricultural value chain to ensure improved production, storage, and distribution of food items, while also addressing bottlenecks that worsen inflation.
The minister assured that the interventions will begin to yield results soon, stressing that food security remains one of the top priorities of the Tinubu administration.
