The Kwara State Police Command has rescued a woman, Afusatu Alhaji Ladan, her nine-month-old baby, Usman, and five other victims from kidnappers in Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state.
Police spokesperson, DSP Ejire-Adeyemi Toun, said in a statement on Wednesday that the victims were freed after a gun battle with bandits in a forest near Owa-Onire.
According to her, the operatives overpowered the kidnappers during the operation, forcing them to flee and abandon the victims.
The rescued persons have since been reunited with their families, while efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects.
