The Federal Government has cancelled the parade earlier scheduled to mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence anniversary on October 1.
The announcement was made on Monday by Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information and Public Relations in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF).
In the statement, the government expressed regret over the inconvenience the cancellation may cause Nigerians.
No reason was given for the sudden decision.
The Independence Day parade, usually held at Eagle Square in Abuja, is a symbolic highlight of the country’s anniversary celebrations, attracting top government officials, diplomats, security agencies, and school children.
