President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has granted clemency to Maryam Sanda, a woman previously sentenced to death for the killing of her husband, as part of a broader pardon of 175 convicts and former convicts.
According to the Presidency, Maryam Sanda’s plea was supported by her family, citing her good conduct, remorse, and commitment to reform during her six years and eight months in custody.
The pardon list, released by Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, also includes inmates granted full pardon, clemency, and sentence commutations—among them individuals on death row whose sentences were reduced to life imprisonment.
