The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State has raised concerns over an alleged plan to attack the party’s National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, during an event scheduled for Sunday.

In a statement released by the state’s Acting Publicity Secretary, Shittu Bamaiyi, the APC claimed it uncovered a plot by certain individuals to mobilize thugs to assault Yilwatda during the Gindiri Old Students’ Reunion Service in Gindiri town, Mangu Local Government Area.

According to the statement, the alleged masterminds of the plot held meetings at a private residence in Jos to finalize their plans.

“As part of the plan, three buses have been arranged in each of the 20 electoral wards in Mangu to transport thugs to the Gindiri Missionary Compound, where they intend to embarrass the National Chairman and his team,” the statement said.

The party further alleged that some of the thugs would be stationed at the Gindiri Roundabout, while journalists from within and outside the state were being mobilized to portray a negative image of the National Chairman.

“In view of this unhealthy development, the APC, as a law-abiding political party, is urgently calling on security agencies to investigate the matter to prevent any breakdown of law and order,” Bamaiyi added.

The party also urged its members and supporters to remain calm and law-abiding in the face of the alleged provocation.
