Several Nigerian soldiers have been injured after terrorists ambushed troops deployed to rescue kidnapped schoolgirls in Kebbi State.

The attack happened just a day after the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, ordered soldiers of Operation Fasan Yamma to go “all out” against the bandits who abducted students of Government Girls Secondary School, Maga.

Shaibu had instructed the troops to sustain round-the-clock operations, saying:
“You must continue day and night fighting. We must find these children.”

He urged commanders to act swiftly on intelligence, stressing that the mission was not only about the Army’s reputation but about fulfilling their duty responsibly.

Following the directive, troops moved into action but were ambushed along their route.

“Musa has a bullet lodged in his leg. His condition is very bad.”

The Army vehicle used for the operation was also severely damaged, riddled with bullet holes during the attack.

Rescue operations for the abducted schoolgirls are still ongoing.
