The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has intercepted a vessel laden with 20 kilogrammes of cocaine at the Apapa seaport in Lagos.

In a statement on Friday, the agency’s spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, said the ship — MV Nord Bosporus (registration number 9760110) — arrived Nigeria from Santos, Brazil, before operatives uncovered the illicit cargo.

According to Babafemi, NDLEA officers discovered the Class A narcotic concealed beneath the ship’s cargo on Sunday, 16 November 2025.

He confirmed that the vessel’s master, Captain Quino Eugene Corpus, along with 19 Filipino crew members, has been detained as part of ongoing investigations.

The agency has also filed an ex-parte application before Justice Musa Kakaki of the Federal High Court in Lagos, under suit number FHC/L/MISC/1306/25, seeking legal approval to hold both the vessel and its crew while the probe continues.
