Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC). He completed his registration and received his membership card at the party’s Ungwar Sarki Ward office in Kaduna.

El-Rufai, once a prominent founding member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), left the ruling party in March 2025. In his resignation letter at the time, he said the APC had abandoned the ideals on which it was built, adding that internal concerns he raised for two years—both privately and publicly—were ignored.

He criticised the APC for drifting from its original progressive vision and becoming unresponsive to key issues affecting the party’s internal health.

After leaving the APC, El-Rufai joined the Social Democratic Party (SDP), but he also resigned from it on November 26, 2025. In his latest resignation letter, he said his focus is now on helping build a unified democratic platform capable of offering Nigerians a credible political alternative.

El-Rufai’s move to the ADC marks another phase in the ongoing political realignments across the country and strengthens the party’s presence in Kaduna and beyond.
