Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, Regional Leader of the Church of Christ Nations in Plateau State, has raised alarm over the integration of repentant Boko Haram members into Nigeria’s security agencies.
Speaking on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief on Monday, Dachomo said the move has weakened the security system and created serious risks. According to him, some of these “repentant” members are still loyal to their former colleagues in the bush and pass sensitive information to them.
He stated that this infiltration is contributing to the continued attacks and insecurity, particularly in northern Nigeria where Christian communities have repeatedly suffered violence.
Dachomo urged the Federal Government to take decisive action, warning that the situation is worsening. He also criticized the government’s approach to handling conflicts between farmers and herders.
According to him, “The security has been polluted by the absorption of repentant Boko Haram members. They are helping their brothers in the bush with information.”
He further said that if the government continues to prioritize the protection of cows over human lives, communities may resort to self-defence measures. Dachomo added that people may begin applying chemicals to farmlands as protection, even if it leads to the death of grazing cattle.
He stressed that true peace would return if the Nigerian Army is withdrawn from certain communities, claiming their presence has not improved security.
His comments come amid growing international attention, with some foreign groups alleging widespread attacks on Christians—claims the Federal Government and several stakeholders continue to reject.
