Seven All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirants in Osun State have withdrawn from the race after a meeting with President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday.
The aspirants agreed to support Bola Oyebamiji as the consensus candidate ahead of the party’s primary.
The meeting, which took place at the Presidential Villa, was boycotted by one of the aspirants, Iyiola Omisore, who earlier described his disqualification from the race as a joke.
Those who stepped down are:
- Former Deputy Governor Benedict Olugboyega Alabi
- Dotun Babayemi
- Akin Ogunbiyi
- Senator Babajide Omoworare
- Kunle Adegoke
- Babatunde Haketer Oralusi
- Mulikat Abiola Jimoh
With this development, Bola Oyebamiji is now positioned as the party’s consensus governorship candidate for the upcoming primary.
