Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has assured residents that his administration will ensure a smooth, peaceful, and dispute-free transfer of power at the end of his tenure in 2027.

The governor gave the assurance on Thursday while speaking during the Christmas service at St. James’ Anglican Church in Iperu-Remo, Ikenne Local Government Area of the state.

Abiodun said his government is determined to set a new standard in Ogun State’s political history by handing over to a successor without tension, rancour, or political crisis. According to him, his administration plans to complete its tenure on a strong note and oversee what he described as a landmark transition.

He said that as 2027 approaches, his government will “finish well and finish strong,” expressing confidence that the handover process will be peaceful and successful. Abiodun added that he plans to attend both his send-off ceremony and the swearing-in of his successor.

The governor described the planned transition as potentially the first truly peaceful handover in the state’s 50-year history, noting that past transitions were often marked by political disputes.

Abiodun attributed his confidence to what he described as steady economic growth and people-focused policies under his administration. He said Ogun State’s economy has expanded significantly since he assumed office, driven largely by industrial growth and increased investments.

According to him, the state’s economy has grown nearly five times compared to what his administration inherited, with new factories and industries being established across different parts of Ogun.

The governor also praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying the president’s leadership under the Renewed Hope Agenda is already producing positive results for the country.

Speaking on the significance of Christmas, Abiodun reminded residents that the season goes beyond celebration and festivities. He urged people to embrace love, peace, and compassion, especially towards the less privileged.

He also advised residents to celebrate responsibly, cautioning against excessive alcohol consumption and encouraging moderation during the festive period.
