Operatives of the Kaduna Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested 11 individuals suspected to be involved in internet fraud.

The suspects were apprehended in coordinated operations carried out in the Mahuta and Barnawa areas of Kaduna, following credible intelligence reports linking them to fraudulent online activities.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the EFCC said the raid was part of its ongoing crackdown on cybercrime across the country.

“The suspects were arrested based on actionable intelligence concerning their alleged involvement in internet-related fraud. Items recovered from them include a black Mercedes Benz C300, 14 mobile phones, two laptop computers, an iPad, two MiFi devices, a JBL speaker, and a Zealot speaker,” the statement read.

The anti-graft agency confirmed that all suspects are currently in custody and will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.

The EFCC also reiterated its commitment to combating cybercrime and warned young Nigerians against engaging in internet fraud, which it said tarnishes the country’s image and undermines economic growth.

The arrest is the latest in a series of operations by the EFCC targeting “Yahoo Boys” — a term used in Nigeria to describe individuals involved in online scam activities — especially in urban centers such as Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, and now Kaduna.

Residents in the affected areas praised the EFCC’s swift action, expressing hope that the crackdown would deter future criminal activity and restore public confidence in the rule of law.
