President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commended Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, for his commitment to peace, security, and infrastructure development across the state, describing him as “an agent of change, unity, and progress.”

The President, who visited Kaduna on Thursday, was in the state to inaugurate key legacy projects executed by the Uba Sani administration, including:

* The Institute of Vocational Training and Skills Development in Rigachikun (Igabi LGA);

* A 300-bed Bola Ahmed Tinubu Specialist Hospital in Millennium City; and

* The rollout of 100 CNG-powered buses to enhance green transportation.

During a town-hall gathering with community and political leaders, President Tinubu pledged further federal support to Kaduna, including the construction of a light rail project, with ₦100 billion already allocated in the 2025 national budget.

“Governor Uba Sani has restored stability in a once toxic environment. Kaduna is back again—peaceful, secure, and forward-looking,” the President said. “We will work closely with him to realize his development vision.”

Peace Efforts Recognized

Highlighting the governor’s strides in restoring peace in restive parts of the state, Tinubu said Kaduna was once a no-go area but is now safe enough to access even volatile regions like Birnin Gwari at midnight.

“Peace is the hallmark of development,” Tinubu said. “And Kaduna is now a model for other states to emulate.”

National Honours Awarded

President Tinubu also used the occasion to correct an oversight during the recent Democracy Day celebrations by conferring the national honour of Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR) on Col. Abubakar Dangiwa Umar (rtd.), a former military governor of Kaduna State and June 12 activist.

In addition, Governor Uba Sani was formally recognized with the Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON), honoring his contributions to democracy and national development.

Governor Uba Sani’s Response

In his speech, Governor Sani thanked the President for the continuous support, particularly for allocating funds for the Kaduna Light Rail project and reinforcing security initiatives.

“When we took office in 2023, our highways were overrun by criminals and our rural communities were collapsing,” Sani recalled. “But with your support, Mr. President, we have reclaimed Kaduna from fear and restored hope.”

The governor added that peace is the “foundation of progress,” and pledged to ensure that resources are used transparently to benefit the people of Kaduna State.
