The Ayo Lawal Empowerment Foundation (ALEF) has once again demonstrated its uncompromising dedication to bridging educational gaps in underserved communities by distributing 3,750 books to all primary schools in the Oworonshoki axis of Kosofe Local Government Area, Lagos State.

The schools that benefited from this initiative include Ayeroju Nursery & Primary School, Muslim Mission Nursery & Primary School, Mosafejo Nursery & Primary School, Local Government Nursery & Primary School, and Oworonshoki Nursery & Primary School.

The distribution exercise took place on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, bringing immense joy to pupils and teachers across the area’s nursery and primary schools.

Mr Ayo Lawal, Founder and Executive Director of ALEF, emphasised the foundation’s core belief during an interview at the event. “Our concept is simple: every child deserves at least a basic education. Imagine a society where everyone can read, write, and express themselves confidently—we would have a better, more meaningful society with reduced crime rates,” he said.

He highlighted the foundation’s ongoing efforts, noting that ALEF had distributed 4,500 books to schools in the Agbado axis of the Ifo Local Government Area in Ogun State just last month (January 2026). Mr Ayo Lawal called on government stakeholders, private organisations, and citizens to join hands in supporting basic education by creating more conducive learning environments and providing essential tools for pupils.

The Headmistress of Oworonshoki Nursery and Primary School, Mrs Oyebamiji S.A., expressed profound gratitude on behalf of the beneficiary schools. “The students are happy and very grateful to The Ayo Lawal Empowerment Foundation. This gesture goes beyond our imagination—the plan to cover all primary and nursery schools in the Oworonshoki axis goes a long way in supporting our children’s learning,” she said.

Mrs Oyebamiji urged other non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to emulate ALEF’s kind initiative and extend similar support to pupils in need.

Officials from the education district II, who observed the distribution, commended the foundation’s reputation. They described ALEF as well-known and highly respected for its consistent contributions to basic education and youth mentorship, adding that the event’s coordination and overall support were greatly appreciated.

Mr Aiyelabowo Odun, Departmental Head of Educational Support at ALEF, outlined the foundation’s ambitious plans for the year. “Our goal is to reach 15,000 pupils and students in 2026, putting smiles on their faces and making the learning environment more comfortable for all,” he stated.

This initiative aligns with ALEF’s long-standing mission. Established in 2007, the Ayo Lawal Empowerment Foundation has been dedicated to empowering underprivileged individuals through education, mentorship, community outreach, and transformative opportunities.

The book distribution in Oworonshoki serves as a timely reminder of the critical role NGOs play in complementing government efforts to ensure quality basic education for every Nigerian child, particularly in densely populated urban suburbs like those in Kosofe LGA.
