The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has proposed a total expenditure of ₦1.13 trillion for its operations in the 2025 fiscal year.
This was disclosed during the presentation of its budget estimates to the National Assembly Committee on Customs and Excise in Abuja.
Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi said the proposed expenditure covers personnel costs, capital projects, and overheads needed to modernize customs operations, improve border security, and enhance revenue generation.
According to Adeniyi, the agency is targeting over ₦6 trillion in revenue for 2025, with plans to deploy technology-driven solutions to boost efficiency and reduce leakages.
Lawmakers commended the service’s revenue drive but urged better accountability and transparency in its spending plans. The budget proposal is expected to undergo further scrutiny before final approval.
