Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have arrested two suspected bandits during a security operation in Saminaka community, located in Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The suspects, identified as Abubakar Jubril, 28, and Mohammed Abubakar, 26, were apprehended on Tuesday, March 3, 2026. Their arrest followed intelligence gathering and surveillance carried out by operatives of the command in the area.

According to the NSCDC, the suspects were part of a group of three individuals seen behaving suspiciously in a volatile location.

The command stated that the suspects “were among three suspicious individuals sighted in a volatile area. While two were arrested, the third suspect escaped and is currently at large.”

Security operatives said efforts were already underway to track down and arrest the fleeing suspect.

Items recovered during the operation included a pistol with serial number 7886 believed to have been manufactured in the United States, a mobile phone, substances suspected to be tramadol, and some cigarettes.

The Kwara State Commandant of the NSCDC, Bala Bodinga, paraded the suspects on Friday, March 6, 2026. During the briefing, he reaffirmed the command’s determination to sustain operations aimed at curbing criminal activities and protecting residents across the state.

Bodinga also cautioned individuals involved in criminal acts to desist or be ready to face legal consequences. He stressed that the command remained committed to arresting offenders and maintaining security in the state.

He further appealed to members of the public to stay alert and provide reliable information that could assist security agencies in preventing crime and ensuring peace.

Meanwhile, the Public Relations Officer of the command, Ayoola Michael, disclosed that the suspects would face prosecution after investigations are completed. He added that they might also be handed over to another relevant security agency for further investigation if necessary.
