The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has approved the confirmation of the appointments of 1,659 workers in the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).
The workers were among 2,281 candidates who took part in a confirmation examination organised by the FCT Civil Service Commission on February 28, 2026.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Sunday by the Minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka. The statement cited the Chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission, Emeka Ezeh.
According to Ezeh, some of the workers who sat for the confirmation examination had been employed several years ago.
“2,512 candidates were invited to present themselves for the confirmation examination, but only 2,281 turned up for the examination.
“A total of 224 officers were absent, fueling suspicion that they could be ghost workers.
“Some of the workers who sat for the confirmation were employed as far back as 2016 and 2019, while others were employed shortly before Wike assumed office in August 2023,” he said.
The Commission also announced that preparations have been completed for the conduct of the 2025 and 2026 promotion exercises.
The promotion process received approval from the minister. Officials said the exercise aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s pledge to improve the welfare and morale of workers in the FCTA.
Eligible candidates have been advised to check the Commission’s official website at www.fctcsc.abj.gov.ng for further information.
