The Kaduna State Police Command has confirmed a deadly midnight shootout with armed robbers at Gashash Estate, Barnawa, in the early hours of Tuesday.

The incident, which occurred around 3:10 a.m., began when a gang of eight heavily armed criminals invaded the quiet residential area, attempting to rob multiple homes.

Responding swiftly to distress calls, police patrol teams engaged the attackers in a fierce gun battle. According to the command, several robbers were neutralized during the exchange, while two suspects were arrested on the spot. The remaining members of the gang reportedly fled the scene with gunshot wounds.

Weapons and stolen items were recovered from the suspects, and investigations are ongoing to track down the fleeing criminals.

Residents have praised the police for their rapid response and bravery, while authorities assured the public of increased patrols and security presence in the area.
