Vice-President Kashim Shettima has paid a visit to victims of the recent bomb explosions in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH).
The visit followed Monday night’s coordinated blasts that struck three locations in the city during the Muslim breaking of fast. Police authorities confirmed that 23 people lost their lives, while 108 others sustained injuries.
Acting on the directive of President Bola Tinubu, the vice-president went to the hospital on Wednesday to meet those receiving treatment from the attacks.
Stanley Nwocha, the presidential spokesperson, disclosed in a post on X that Shettima expressed grief over the fatalities and extended sympathy to the injured. He also conveyed the federal government’s support for residents of the state in the aftermath of the incident.
The hospital continues to care for survivors as authorities monitor the situation following the deadly explosions.
