Armed bandits have abducted at least 55 people in separate attacks across Zamfara State, leaving residents in fear of renewed violence.
The latest incident occurred on Monday when 43 worshippers were kidnapped from a mosque in Gidan Turbe village, Tsafe Local Government Area, during evening prayers.
Just a day earlier, 12 residents were seized by gunmen in Godai village, Bukkuyum Local Government Area.
Local sources told reporters that the assailants stormed both communities in large numbers, shooting sporadically before whisking away their victims.
Security operatives have yet to release an official statement on the attacks, but residents said the abductions highlight the worsening insecurity in rural parts of the state.
