Suspected Boko Haram insurgents have ambushed security forces in Kashmiri village, Bama Local Government Area of Borno State, killing a Commanding Officer of the 202 Battalion, five soldiers, and three members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).
Sources said the attack occurred during a security operation in the area, with the insurgents reportedly laying an ambush for the troops.Several soldiers, including the Commanding Officer of the 222 Battalion, Konduga, sustained varying degrees of injuries, while one soldier was abducted by the assailants.
The military authorities have yet to release an official statement as of the time of filing this report, but sources said reinforcement teams have been deployed to the area to pursue the attackers and recover the missing personnel.
The latest attack underscores the continued threat posed by Boko Haram insurgents to military operations and civilian security in Borno State.
