Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced a massive expansion from 650,000 to 1.4 million barrels per day, making it the largest refinery in the world.
Chairman Aliko Dangote praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Federal Government for policies like Nigeria’s First and Naira-for-Crude, which he said are transforming Nigeria’s energy sector.
The expansion will create 65,000 jobs, boost local refining, and save billions in foreign exchange. Petrochemical output will rise to 2.4 million tonnes annually, while the refinery upgrades to Euro VI standards and expands power generation for self-sufficiency.
Dangote plans to list 10% of refinery shares on the Nigerian Stock Exchange within a year and assured Nigerians of steady fuel supply during the festive season.
He urged other investors to join in making Nigeria Africa’s refining hub, saying,
“When Africa builds its own capacity, it builds its own destiny.”
