The internal crisis in the Ebonyi State chapter of the Action Democratic Congress (ADC) has deepened following the conclusion of the April 11 congress in the state.
The Saturday congresses resulted in the election of two factional State Working Committees (SWC), with Barr. Silas Onu, a former state chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), emerging as chairman at the congress held at Preston Hotel in Abakaliki.
In a parallel congress held at Aristocrats Hotel, Abakaliki, Dr. Mrs. Jennifer Adibe Nwafor was re-elected for another term in the party’s top position, alongside other SWC members.
It is widely believed that the congress which produced the Barr. Onu-led State Working Committee is recognised by the David Mark-led national leadership of the party.
Both factions have dismissed each other’s claims and insist they are the authentic party leadership in the state.
