In a decisive move prompted by rising security challenges across parts of the country, the Federal Government has ordered the immediate closure of 47 Unity Colleges.

The directive was contained in an official circular released on Friday, underscoring the government’s concern over “recent security challenges in some parts of the country and the need to prevent any security breaches.”

According to the document, the closure was approved by the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, as part of precautionary measures to safeguard students, staff, and school facilities.

The circular, signed by Binta Abdulkadir, Director of Senior Secondary Education, conveyed the ministry’s instructions to school administrators to ensure compliance with the shutdown order.

While the government did not specify the duration of the closure, education authorities assured that updates would be provided as security assessments continue.
