The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed, has called for arming road safety operatives, saying it may be the only way to enforce traffic laws effectively on Nigerian highways.
Mohammed argued that the rising cases of violent attacks, non-compliance, and insecurity on major roads have made it increasingly difficult for unarmed operatives to carry out their duties.
He stressed that arming personnel would not only enhance their safety but also strengthen enforcement of traffic regulations to reduce accidents and protect road users.
