Irish actor and writer Michael Patrick, best known for his role in the global hit series Game of Thrones, has passed away at the age of 35.
Patrick died peacefully at the Northern Ireland Hospice following a two-year battle with Motor Neurone Disease (MND). His wife, Naomi Sheehan, confirmed the news, stating that family and friends surrounded him during his final moments.
The Belfast-born actor was diagnosed with the incurable neurological condition in February 2023. Despite the diagnosis, he remained active in the industry, recently winning a major theatre award for his performance in a production of Richard III, which he performed in a wheelchair.
Beyond his appearance in the sixth season of Game of Thrones, Patrick’s career spanned television and stage, with notable credits in the BBC drama Blue Lights and the series My Left Nut, which he co-wrote.
His family described him as an inspiration who lived life to the fullest despite his health challenges. Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced in the coming days.
