Nigerian gospel minister and pastor Nathaniel Bassey has recounted an encounter with an alleged traditional spiritualist who, according to him, attempted to place him under a spell.
Bassey shared the experience during a worship session, explaining that the incident happened along an express road. He described it as the second time the same individual had approached him.
According to the cleric, the man knocked on his car and began what he described as an enchantment, allegedly attempting to influence and command him to “do something.”
“I just stood there and laughed,” Bassey said, noting that he responded by declaring Bible verses instead. He referenced scriptures affirming divine protection, including the passage, “Touch not my anointed and do my prophets no harm.”
The pastor said the man remained at the scene, seemingly waiting for the spell to take effect. However, Bassey cited another biblical verse, Numbers 23:23, which states, “There is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel,” to emphasize his belief that the attempt would not succeed.
He added that he eventually stepped out of his car and ordered the man to leave immediately.
Reflecting on the incident, Bassey expressed regret that he did not detain the individual and contact law enforcement authorities.
While narrating the encounter, the gospel minister stressed that his account was not meant to glorify evil but to highlight what he described as the reality of spiritual wickedness and the power of faith.
