A former Kaduna State governor and chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Nasir El-Rufai, has expressed solidarity with the national convention organized by the David Mark faction.
El-Rufai, who is currently facing trial on a nine-count charge filed by the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC), has been held in detention for over a month.
Responding to questions from journalists about the convention after a court proceeding on Monday, El-Rufai said he would attend the convention “in spirit,” signaling that his continued incarceration would prevent his physical presence.
He then entered a Hilux vehicle that conveyed him from the court, under the watch of armed police officers and personnel of the Department of State Services (DSS).
