Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has donated ₦5 million and a plot of land to each of the families of the 22 athletes who tragically lost their lives in a road accident while returning from the National Sports Festival in Ogun State.
The governor described the gesture as a token of the state’s gratitude for the athletes’ dedication and sacrifice, promising continued support to the grieving families.
He also announced plans to immortalize the late athletes by naming a sports facility in their honour, adding that their memory would serve as an inspiration for young talents across the state.
