Former Kano State Governor and presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has announced plans to upgrade the Nafisatu College of Nursing Sciences, Kwankwaso, into a full-fledged medical university.
Kwankwaso made the announcement as part of activities marking his birthday celebration held at his hometown, Kwankwaso village, in Madobi Local Government Area of Kano State.
The event also featured an inspection tour of ongoing academic activities at the college, which was established in 2019 to train qualified healthcare professionals and address manpower gaps in the state’s health sector.
During the occasion, outstanding staff and students were recognised for their dedication and achievements, reflecting the institution’s steady growth under the Kwankwasiyya Foundation’s educational initiatives.
Kwankwaso said the proposed medical university would serve as a major step towards strengthening medical education and improving healthcare delivery in Kano and across Nigeria.
He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting education and youth development, noting that the project aligns with his long-standing vision to empower young Nigerians through quality and affordable learning opportunities.
