Africa will have a record 10 representatives at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, following DR Congo’s qualification.

The Leopards secured the final African slot after beating Nigeria in the African play-offs and later defeating Jamaica 1-0 in the intercontinental play-offs on Tuesday night.

They join nine other nations that had already booked their places at the expanded tournament.

The Super Eagles, on the other hand, failed to qualify for the second edition in a row.

It will be the first time Africa sends 10 teams to the World Cup, underlining the continent’s growing influence in global football.
